Make-A-Wish Foundation 'satisfied' with kids and porn

Last month, AFA supporters asked Make-A-Wish to drop all association with the Pittsburgh Comic Convention, because of the extensive display of pornography and the presence of porn stars.

Make-A-Wish refused to withdraw from the event.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation chapter in Western Pennsylvania says it was "satisfied" with changes made at the Pittsburgh Comic Convention (Comicon) last month, despite the overwhelming presence of pornography and autograph signing sessions with Hugh Hefner's Playboy bunnies. Several fundraising events at the Comicon were designed to benefit the Make-A-Wish chapter.

"There were porn magazines openly displayed in front of children and porn stars posing with pictures with young boys," said Diane Gramley, president of American Family Association of Northwestern Pennsylvania. "In addition, children were allowed to wander through makeshift 'gambling halls' where booze was freely consumed."

Ann Fisher, Director of Communications for Make-A-Wish of Western Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia, said the "Make-A-Wish Casino Night" and the "Make-A-Wish Charity Auction" were not part of the Comicon.

Gramley disputes the assertion as false. "The fundraising events were held in the same building and on the same days as the Comicon. Throughout the day, conventioners were encouraged to attend the fundraisers via a loudspeaker system." She says the same people were heavily involved in both events, including porn stars and artists.
