McDonald's thinks MTV is more important than your children

Should you thank McDonald's on behalf of your children?

  • Thank McDonald's for their continued financial support of MTV and for helping to put more filth on television?

  • Thank McDonald's for giving our kids role models that constantly promote a message of immoral lifestyles?

  • Thank McDonald's for keeping a network on the air that encourages a message of sexual promiscuity, dishonesty, and public drunkenness?

  • Thank McDonald's for taking money from Happy Meal sales and giving it to MTV for the purpose of presenting our kids with programs that push rudeness, rebellion, and profane language?
I have written two letters to McDonald's, asking them to stop their financial support of MTV. Here's what they responded with:
"We regularly review programming where our advertising messages appear, and strive to associate our message with programming that is relevant and entertaining and that also speaks to our customers in a positive environment."
McDonald's continues to support MTV. By their response, they obviously think free sex, profanity, and other indecent broadcasts are "relevant...entertaining" and "a positive environment" for our children.

So...would you like to thank McDonald's for helping keep MTV on the air? I didn't think so!

Take Action

McDonald's needs to know you don't appreciate their continued financial support of MTV. I encourage you to take the following action:

1. Click here to send a message to McDonald's Chairman Jim Cantalupo. Ask Chairman Cantalupo to immediately stop McDonald's financial support of MTV.

2. Contact your local McDonald's manager and request they contact Chairman Cantalupo as well. You can find your local store contact information here.

3. It is possible that McDonald's will reject your email. If they do, please call their toll-free number at 1-800-244-6227.

4. Use their online contact form to send your message. Ask McDonald's to immediately stop their financial support of MTV (sample letter below).

Please, for our children, take action today!

Sincerely,

Donald E. Wildmon, Chairman

Sample letter and message to McDonald's

Dear Chairman Cantalupo,

I have heard from American Family Association that McDonald's will continue its financial support of the MTV network.

It is hard for me to believe that your company would so easily dismiss the negative impact MTV has on our children.

I hope you understand parents care more about their children than for the success of McDonald's.

I strongly encourage you to reconsider your response to AFA's request to stop your support for MTV.

Should AFA encourage economic sanctions against McDonald's, I will follow their lead. And, I will encourage others to do so.

Sincerely,
